The Appeal

If you wanted to express the shape of a car using only straight lines, we imagine you’d end up with something that closely resembled a Volvo 240. The beautiful simplicity of their angular form makes the 240 almost timeless and there’s a real elegance to their inherent boxiness.

This 244 GLE is equipped with the fuel injected 2.3-litre 4-cylinder engine, coupled to an automatic gearbox. It is really well presented and while there are a few imperfections, this Volvo is unashamedly honest and would be an excellent candidate for some small cosmetic improvements.

The Interior

Blue textured velour upholstery
Besides a little fabric stretching, the seats are in really good condition for their age
The rear seats do not appear to have been used very often at all
The matching blue carpeting remains eminently usable throughout
Retains its factory-correct protective overmats
It appears the dashboard is in excellent condition and is entirely unmodified
Retains a period-correct radio which works
No UV damage or signs of excessive wear to the interior plastics
The headlining is in great shape with no evidence of leaks from the sunroof
Inside the boot, all is in very good order and a full-size spare wheel is stowed to the left

The Exterior

Smart metallic blue paintwork still holds a good shine
The bodywork is really straight, with good panel fit and door shut lines and no large dents
There are a few blemishes in places and some light patination, especially towards the rear
We could see some chips on the lower portion of the doors and wheel arches
Sliding steel sunroof in good working order
All of the original trim looks to be in good condition overall
Complete with mudflaps
All of the glass and light lenses look to be in good shape
Underneath, it appears some blue paint has been applied quite recently and the floor pans and running gear appear in fine order

Summary
