The Appeal
Yes, you read it right: this remarkable Laser has covered just 6,415 miles from new. That shows remarkable restraint by its trio of keepers because the 2L Mk3 Capri is about as much sideways-sliding fun as you can have on four wheels.
The Laser was introduced in 1984 as a factory special offering decent trim and great value to buyers towards the end of the Capri’s life. It was a popular pick, helped by the sporty graphics and interior and RS four spoke alloys. This car has the larger 2L version of the torquey Pinto motor, an engine that offers decent power and low weight to maximise the Capri’s entertaining dynamics.
This car is finished in black with a grey interior. With the exception of a replacement parcel shelf it is said to be highly original and unmodified. It is also, as you can see from the photos, in remarkable condition. Key tell-tales like the driver’s seat bolster and steering wheel confirm the low mileage.
The history file backs it up too. The car remained with its first keeper until 2009 and was acquired by the current one in 2018. Despite the sparing use it has been regularly serviced and maintained, most recently by the enthusiast vendor.
The condition is backed up by the current MOT, which runs to September. If you are in the habit of taking your cars off the road during winter, that could be this car’s last test because from 1st April 2025 it is eligible for Historic Vehicle status.
This is a collector-quality Capri in magnificent condition. They don’t come along this good or with this low mileage often.
The vendor says:
The car drives perfectly as you would expect given the very low mileage. It never fails to put a smile on my face, and on the face of other motorists.
