The Appeal

While outwardly resembling its 5 Series predecessor, (the Bracq/Gandhini-designed E12), the BMW E28 showcased some of the most advanced automotive technology of its day. The chassis dynamics and drivetrain were developed with the aid of what was at the time BMW’s only computer, ensuring its complex systems (such as ABS) were going to function as efficiently as possible.

Equipped with the fuel-injected 2.8-litre M30 straight-six and a five-speed manual gearbox, this 1986 528I was one of the best-driving cars of its era - despite being a four-door saloon. This example is quite unique as the vendor acquired it from its original keeper in February 2024. We’re assured that the car is entirely original throughout, including the paintwork and interior, which is quite remarkable when you observe what amazing shape this car is in. It has evidently been beautifully maintained throughout its life and the vendor informs us that this is backed up by full service history.
