Sliding down into this classic Ferrari you instantly get a feel for just how fun this car is to drive. The all business steering wheel serves only one purpose with no buttons or switches, the open-gated gearbox encourages a more positive approach to shifting and the low slung position lets you know this car takes corners very seriously.

Whilst the interior lacks many of the extra bits often found on modern cars, it still feels exceptionally well appointed and what there is, is done to the usual high Ferrari standards. But that’s not to mention the style, and that might just be the best thing about the inside of the 328 GTS, pure 80’s supercar style.

From the switches on the centre console to the orange on the dials the inside of this car looks simply fantastic. Of course this is only helped by the excellent condition of the interior, with very little visible signs of use. If you’re looking for some 80’s cool to go with your prancing horses, this is it.

Modern supercars may be the most aerodynamic, but they struggle to compete with the sheer cool factor that 80’s supercars have. The bold wedge shape designs and angular lines are a stark contrast to today's smooth edges and subtle curves. Few cars from this era look quite as stylish as this Ferrari, especially with the GTO body kit. With the iconic pop-up headlights and finished in red it looks simply perfect. If it wasn’t already cool enough the targa top takes it to another level, as well as providing the convertible experience.

From the deep-dish wheels to those distinctive pop-up headlights the exterior of this car is in excellent condition. All of the paintwork presents superbly along with the pop out targa top, which is quick and easy to detach and re-fit.

The sound of the 3.2l V8 when it starts up is like music to any petrolhead, but it’s nothing compared to the sound the car makes once warmed up and approaching its redline of 7,700rpm. Performance is spritely even by today's standard thanks to the 274hp from the mid-engined V8, combined with a lightweight body. Of course the GTS isn’t just about straight line speed, it’s no slouch in the corners too, low and light with plenty of power on tap and no driver assistance technology, the corners are fun and exhilarating whilst requiring some real driving skill.

The mechanical aspects of the car all present excellently, from the engine bay to the underside, this is clearly a car that has been very well cared for. Recommissioned by the vendor, the car has had a full service and new belts all round.

Summary

Packed full of retro 80’s cool in the way only a Ferrari can be, it’s hard not to fall in love with this gorgeous supercar. In superb condition throughout, it looks fantastic from every angle, especially with the targa top off.

But aesthetics aside the 328 GTS is an immensely satisfying car to drive, with no power steering or traction control and a perfectly balanced chassis married to the high-revving V8 in the middle of the car it provides the kind of driving experience that will put a grin on anyone's face.

With good examples appreciating in value they are often snapped up as investment opportunities, but we think once you hear the sound of that V8 the only thing you'll want to do is go and find some corners!
