The Appeal
The qualities that make the Mondial shine are perhaps, confusingly, also the reasons why it’s not always been the default classic Ferrari choice. After all, a practical and easy-to-maintain classic Maranello product seems like a misnomer. But that is changing, as enthusiasts re-evaluate the Mondial for exactly those benefits. With four seats and an engine subframe that enables easy access, the Mondial is a canny choice.
The car continued to improve during its long life. The more powerful 270bhp 3.2L version of the Dino V8, shared with the 328, arrived in 1985. These cars can be differentiated by their colour-coded bumpers and revised indicators. From 1987, the 3.2L got a much-improved interior. If you want to avoid the complexity of the Mondial T, it is the pick of the range. Just 810 cabriolets like this car were built, all featuring the distinctive ‘flying buttress’ rear frame design. Finished in classic Rosso Corsa over Nero black, this low-mileage 1987 car is a really tidy example that has clearly been looked after.
The car appears to have originated in Monaco before arriving in the UK with its single keeper. The history file includes invoices from well-regarded specialists like Autofficina. The car was fully serviced in July 2022 and has covered only 200kms since. The last MOT ran to June 2023 and contained no advisories.
