THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK

• Ordered new by a member of the Armed Forces stationed in Germany, in RHD European specification 
• The seller states that it was first registered in Germany on 25th May 1987 and was delivered to the VAG dealership of Tolke & Fischer in Krefeld
• First registered in the UK on 31st December 1987
• V5C Registration Document showing 11 owners from new
• Valid MOT Certificate until 11th May 2023 with no advisories
• Original stamped service book and handbook present
• The seller states that the GTi has a folder of Service History, containing numerous expired MOT Certificates and previous maintenance invoices and adds that the Golf will be freshly serviced prior to sale
• Two Keys
• The seller acquired the car in 2015 and is a former freelance motoring journalist who used to write for Volkswagen Driver magazine

THE INTERIOR

• Euro specification with tinted windows, manual sunroof and manual windows.
• The classic Mk2 GTi striped interior presents very well and looks to be in good condition in the photos. The seller notes there are some small pin holes in the drivers cushion.
• New headlining has been recently fitted
• The dashboard shows to be in good condition in the photos and the seller states that it has no cracks. 
• He goes on to say that the binnacle LCD computer display has seen better days. However another set of clocks is included in the sale.
• The seller adds that all the controls and instruments work, with the exception of the original type stereo which is not hooked up. 
• Speakers were fitted to the door cards by a previous owner
• The parcel shelf is in good condition and is uncut
• The seller goes on to say that the missing switch blanker on the dashboard which is shown in the photos will be refitted prior to sale

THE EXTERIOR

• Ultra-rare Rare Racing Green Metallic factory colour (code LK6U) which was not available in the UK. It is believed there are only 6 Golf Mk2 examples in this colour scheme in the country.
• The seller states the Golf received a glass-out repaint approximately 10 years ago and says its presents very well today
• The Montreal alloy wheels are refurbished and in good condition
• The seller says that the bodywork is very straight and believes it has never been welded

THE MECHANICS

• 1.8 litre 16V engine which is unmodified and has had the K-Jetronic fuel-injection system overhauled
• The seller states that the 5 Speed manual gearbox is sound with no synchromesh issues
• The engine has benefited from a recent cambelt change and recommission
• The car has covered approximately 1,500 miles since 2015. The current mileage is 136,207 miles which equates to an average of 3,891 miles over 35 years.
• The seller adds that the suspension has been refreshed with a new standard suspension kit
• He goes on to say that the Golf has had a new exhaust system installed, along with new fuel pumps and a new distributor. He also notes that the metering head has been overhauled.
