Original Alpina paint, made to order (“Sonderlackierung”)
One of the very few UK-registered (French) Alpina examples to retain its original French Alpina registration certificate
History file including invoices, service book and original options list
The appeal
The Alpina B3 2.7 sits among the most sought-after derivatives of the BMW 3 Series E30. Hand-assembled and transformed in Buchloe, Germany, it receives a 2,693 cc straight-six developing 210 hp (PS), representing a substantial gain over the original BMW 325i. With only 257 examples produced, its value has continued to climb—and it’s easy to see why. Already regarded as one of the benchmarks of its era, the BMW E30—specifically in Alpina B3 2.7 form—delivers an even higher level of performance and refinement.
This particular car, No. 224 of 257, has been kept by its current owner for around 24 years. Purchased in 2002 with 138,000 km showing, it retains its original Alpina “Sonderlackierung” paint in Black Blue Metallic, a made-to-order colour and one absent from the standard BMW colour chart. The cabin has kept all of its specific Alpina equipment. According to information provided by Alpina, the engine is entirely original and non-catalysed.
Stored in a garage since 2008 and used only occasionally, the car is accompanied by a substantial history file including service invoices, the service book, the purchase invoice and the original options list. This is one of the very rare vehicles registered in France that has retained its original French Alpina registration certificate. image.png1.73 MB

✓ VAT is included in the buyer’s deposit. VAT may or may not be included in the final offer or bid price, as specified in the listing.
✓ We want the transaction to run smoothly, just like you do—and that’s why vehicles and motorcycles registered in the UK and listed on Car & Classic are subject to an HPI check to verify that they show no insurance-database markers for damage or theft, and that they are not subject to any financial charge, so you can bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as written off in the event of a total loss at the time the listing is placed on Car & Classic, and we provide category write-off labels (Cat C/D/S/N) to help you. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status, and it is always useful to carry out a full vehicle history check before making an offer.
