The Appeal

Dropping the 1,500cc Lampredi engine into the back of the X1/9 finally gave the featherweight car the performance to match its Mini-Ferrari looks. No car before or since has quite matched the style and driving joy of these beautifully balanced cars.

The final Bertone-built cars tend to be more durable and gained useful improvements like reliable fuel injection. A noted Fiat and Ferrari collector ordered this rather special 1988 car new, and it features bespoke fittings like the spoilers, wheels, and leather seats that set it apart. The condition does that too because this is a low-mileage car in collector-quality condition.

The car has had just two collector keepers since new and has always been stored carefully to a high standard. We are told it drives particularly well and is reliable too. With 67,446 miles indicated, this late-model X1/9 stands out for its condition and provenance.
