The Appeal
Handsome, comfortable, powerful and built to the sort of exacting standards that made Mercedes such a hallmark of quality, it’s perhaps no surprise that good R107s remain in such demand.
This very appealing Arctic White facelift car marks a change from the regular 300SLs with its 218bhp 4.2L V8 engine. It delivers a useful increase in high-speed heft, plus that lovely muted eight-cylinder rumble. For a 420SL this car’s mileage represents barely run-in. As a later car it benefits from a galvanised body.
It has clearly been looked after by its handful of keepers, as you can see from the photos. Alongside the matching factory hard top and rear seat, there is a set of uprated 16-inch ‘Gullideckels.’ They add a touch of extra purpose to the exterior.
The large history file supports the displayed mileage and shows regular attention. The car was last serviced in August 2025 by a noted marque specialist. The MOT runs to August 2026 with only one very minor advisory to note.
This is a really tidy and nicely specified 420SL that looks perfect for some 2026 sunshine driving.
