THE APPEAL

The Land Rover 90 is a vehicle that needs little introduction, since its reveal in 1983 the all-conquering 4x4 has been at the top of the shopping list for many, with militaries, adventurists and the countryside-dwelling family all choosing the Defender as their day-to-day vehicle.

Its off-road performance and robust nature have also positioned it at the front of its class, especially for enthusiasts who enjoy exploring the great outdoors and more trialling locations. This 1989 ‘90’ was purchased just for those reasons.

Acquired over a decade ago, as a means for the current owners to explore the British countryside, this 1989 ‘90’ has been tastefully modified and exceptionally maintained throughout its life. It features a replacement 3.5L V8 engine, installed in 2014 plus various mechanical upgrades to ensure those adventures are completed with as little trouble as possible. It is presented in familiar Defender fashion, with a few bruises and blemishes with a pleasant interior.

A practical, versatile option for an array of reasons, this Land Rover is a fantastic vehicle for those weekends wandering down green lanes, or for those that need something capable and resilient on a daily occurrence.

Engine – 3.5 litre high compression refurb from Turner Engineering fitted at approx. 110,000 miles
Carb – Edelbrock 4 barrel carb on Edelbrock Performer manifold. Breathes through steel snorkel via Range Rover classic air filter, into RPi Engineering plenum on carb.
LPG system fitted with 2 tanks (one internal one external) totalling 60 litres, but could be removed without major bodywork mods
RPi twin timing electronic engineering (for petrol/lpg running)
Magnecor plug/HT leads.
Reported to be in good working order
MOT until January 2024 with no advisories reported
