  • Just 66,362 miles
  • In previous ownership for the past 25 years
  • To be offered with a fresh MOT - (current advisory-free MOT expires 22nd May 2024)
  • Approximately £10,000 spent on recent servicing and gasket replacement

The Appeal

Regarded as one of if not the wildest roadgoing 911 of the 20th century, the 930 came into being when the FIA instructed Porsche to build roadgoing versions of their Group 4 an Group 5 racing cars for homologation. It's here that the iconic whale tail, wide body and front spoilers began, features that have become as integral to the 911 legend as that classic coupe shape.

Unsurprisingly, enthusiasts adored it and the 930 soon garnered a reputation for its mind-bending performance and handling that demanded some serious skill behind the wheel.

The key to any 930 purchase is specification and provenance.  This great example has both.  Finished in classic white with all the usual 930 visual dramatics, it also has the versatility of a Targa roof.  The history file is similarly impressive, supporting the low mileage and the sense of an enthusiast maintained car.
It is a notable car because it was built in the last year of 930 production. We’re informed that it’s been looked after without regard to cost during the 25 years of previous ownership.  Recent expenditure has included £10,000 on a major service and the removal of the engine to replace several gaskets/seals.
For fans of this legendary 911, this surely represents an unmissable opportunity.

The History and Paperwork

  • The previous owner acquired the car in 1998
  • Advisory-free current MOT (soon to expire so to be offered freshly tested)
  • Accompanied by several recent invoices from HP Porsche Ltd
  • The last major service amounted to around £6,000
  • The engine was removed to rectify some oil leaks and this cost around £4,000
  • Some of the history file has unfortunately been lost during divorce proceedings a few years ago

The Condition

  • Very smart Grand Prix White paintwork with few notable blemishes
  • Straight and solid-looking bodywork
  • No obvious signs of corrosion or accident damage
  • Targa roof section in good condition and fitting well
  • The polished Fuchs alloys present impeccably with very few defects
  • High-quality Continental tyres fitted
  • Evocative ‘tea tray’ spoiler
  • All the black trims present very well
  • All looks in good condition underneath
  • Smart original interior with light age-commensurate wear
  • The leather upholstery presents very well for its age
  • Kenwood DIN stereo fitted
  • Heated seats and air conditioning
  • Momo Champion sports steering wheel fitted
If asked to produce a quintessentially ‘80s sports car, this 930 certainly fits the bill. Resplendent in Grand Prix White, with brightly polished Fuchs alloy wheels and a prominent ‘tea tray’ spoiler, this Porsche is sure to turn heads.
It’s in great condition too, appearing beautifully maintained rather than heavily restored. The exterior exhibits few notable blemishes and while there’s some light wear to the interior, it remains eminently usable and commendably original. We’re not informed of any apparent problems with the cabin electrics.

The Mechanics

  • 3,299 cc turbocharged flat-six
  • Four-speed manual gearbox
  • Subject to copious recent servicing
  • No advisories were recorded during the last MOT test
  • Original-looking and nicely presented engine compartment
Now comes the 930’s party piece - its turbocharged engine. Adding boost to the 911’s tail-heavy chassis proved immensely effective from a performance perspective, but it took a skilled driver to tackle corners at speed. We’re informed that it runs and drives very well, benefitting from all the work it has received throughout the past 25 years of previous ownership.
