The Appeal
The E30 generation of the 3 Series, built on the ‘junior executive’ formula of its E21 predecessor, quickly became an aspirational car beloved of ‘yuppies’ in the 1980s. It was offered with a range of bodystyles – including a four-door saloon and an estate – and a wide range of engines and optional equipment, enabling it to appeal to an even broader audience.
This four-door example of the 318i was one of the last models to be sold in the UK, and features the updated front bumper and revised rear lights that were introduced in 1987. The seller is only its second owner, and it has benefited from regular servicing and repairs.
The exterior paintwork retains its sheen; some light scratches and are present. The car is fitted with the classic-style BMW alloy wheels and a rear spoiler.
Inside, the two-tone grey/beige interior with cloth seats is complete and largely original, with some signs of wear present. The car is equipped with a factory-fitted sunroof.
With some attention to restore it to its former glory, this BMW would make a perfect ‘modern classic’, being cheap to run, enjoyable to drive and easy to maintain.
