HISTORY
The BMW E30 3 Series cars were produced between 1982 and 1994 and the range included a 2 door coupe and convertible, and a 4 door saloon and estate version.
Available with various diesel or petrol engines they were a huge sales success and firmly cemented BMW as a market force to be reckoned with.
The six-cylinder engine in 2.0 or 2.5 litre form together with rear wheel drive and a beautifully balanced chassis made these cars an absolute delight to drive and live with.
The 3 Series from this era also earned a well deserved reputation for being reliable and being built to a high German Engineering standard.20210801_124459.jpg4.12 MB
BACKGROUND
Originally delivered new in 1990 this 320i convertible was owned by its lady owner and cared for by the local BMW main dealer for many years before being sold to friends who then were responsible for 2 of the previous owners as it passed from wife to husband ownership.
In around the year 2010 it was, for unknown reasons, placed into long-term dry storage where it stayed for the next 10 years before being bought by the current owner.
The car was fully recommissioned during this last year with a full and comprehensive service, new discs and brake pads, new coil-overs, new suspension top mounts and bump-stops and a new battery.20210801_124607.jpg4.1 MB
PAPERWORK
The car comes with 2 large files of service history receipts and MOTs and 1 key. The current MOT is valid until March 2022
The V5 and the original sets of owner’s manuals including the service book are also present.
The interior features chequered half-leather seats and is in very good condition throughout, showing very little sign of age or wear. The BMW M-tech steering wheel is a nice additional touch and it has tailored floor mats fitted. The dashboard is in excellent condition with no cracks or imperfections visible.
The boot is clean and dry and has the complete tool kit with the rare window key, the original spare wheel and jack.
Everything looks and works as it should, with the exception of one of the cassette tape holders, which refuses to stay closed.
The Dolphin grey paintwork and black soft top are a great colour combination for the E30 BMW 3 Series and it looks particularly purposeful with the addition of the optional BBS mesh alloys and the rear boot lip spoiler.
There are a few small bodywork blemishes to note, namely a small rust blister on the driver’s side lower ¼ panel, and a small rust blister on the boot just below the number plate. There is also a vertical light scratch on the boot lid.
The hood opens and closes smoothly and easily, and other than where the stitching is beginning to fray in one small area the hood is in good condition. It should be noted that the front moulded mudguards are presently not fitted as the securing top clip has currently been misplaced.
The electric aerial functions perfectly and all the chrome and black external fixtures are in particularly good condition.
The car has been fitted with a new timing belt, thermostat and fresh coolant, ready for its new owner.
The owner reports that the car starts and drives very well and has performed faultlessly during his ownership with no known issues to report.20210801_125639.jpg4.12 MB
