The Appeal
With its turbocharged Lampredi SOHC 1.4L engine, Fiat’s Uno Turbo wasn’t messing about. Quicker and more punchy than a 1.6L 205, more exciting than a Golf GTI and more sophisticated than an XR3i, this was a proper Italian sports car.
Such was the hooligan thrill of these little pocket rockets that survivors, sadly, are exceptionally rare. It’s hard to think when we last saw one on the road or at auction, which makes the arrival of this one very interesting.
It is a factory Turboi IE that has been fitted with the Hormann wide body kit to add a little more road poise to the otherwise understated Uno hot hatch lines. The engine has also had attention, the vendor reporting that it now runs at 140bhp, a decent hike on the standard 118bhp.
The vendor acquired the car in 2017. Since late 2023 he has invested £3,400 in the car. This has included servicing, replacement cambelt and water pump, fuel filter and attention to the brakes. There are a few points to note in the photos and description but the car comes to market with lengthy MOT to May 2026 so is ready to enjoy.
The vendor says:
“You sit high in this Uno compared to other 80s hot hatches, it's a proper driving car with no power steering. The sound of the turbo is the best bit and I will miss it.
“Where are you going to find a Uno Turbo, never mind about the Hormann bodykit fitted to it?”
