The appeal
Only around 10% of R129s are believed to have been built with the combination of the 3.0-litre 24-valve engine and five-speed manual gearbox. While the SL is generally regarded as a prestige grand tourer, this configuration emphasises the sporty character of the inline six M103 engine, whose compact weight also contributes to chassis agility.
This 1991 example is presented in an attractive "triple blue" configuration, with a matching hard top. It presents in clean and well-presented condition, ready to be enjoyed and driven.
Its low mileage of 103,526 km is supported by a coherent history of technical inspections dating back to 1997. According to the seller, the car has also benefited from regular maintenance, with the last major service carried out at 97,000 km.
The technical inspection has recently been renewed and remains valid until June 2027 with no advisories. Rare, well maintained and with an uncommon configuration, this R129 represents an interesting opportunity to acquire an SL that differs from the more common automatic versions.
Seller's statement
“I bought it because it is a beautiful Mercedes-Benz SL, with a lot of charm and real presence. I appreciate its spirit of a classic open-top, its comfort and the fact that it is in good condition, with a coherent history and credible mileage. It is a pleasure car, enjoyable to drive, which I bought mainly for the pleasure of owning it and taking the wheel.
