The Appeal
The 'S2' badge counts for a lot. Versus the standard 944, the S2 was significantly more powerful thanks to its unusually large 3.0-litre 16V four-cylinder engine, making 211 hp. It also boasts the 944 Turbo's more muscular body style and Brembo brakes. Combined with its transaxle layout, rear-wheel-drive balance, and iconic pop-up headlights, the S2 remains one of the most rewarding driver's cars of its era.
The vendor notes that this 1991 example feels particularly sharp on twisty country roads.
Our car has benefited from considerable investment under its current owner, with close to £13,000 spent on mechanical and cosmetic work carried out by La Rose Porsche Specialists in Kent. The previous owner also maintained the car through Cavendish Porsche in Nottingham, where timing gear, cooling system, and ignition system work were all completed. The underside is reported to be solid, and the vendor describes the interior as being in very good condition.
With a current MOT showing no advisories and valid until the end of March 2027, this 944 S2 presents as an honest, well-maintained example ready to be enjoyed.image.png1.41 MB

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle's status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
