1992 Toyota Celica GT-Four ST185

Highlights

  • Factory standard ST185 in great condition
  • Lots of history & recent structural investment
  • Long MOT to July 2024 with no advisories
  • Great example of this pivotal Japanese car

The Appeal

If the sight of Lancers and Imprezas skimming through forest stages spurs you, then know that it all started here. Toyota’s GT-Four was the first Japanese AWD, turbocharged World Rally Car to compete and win trophies.  Lots of them.
To homologate those gravel monsters there had to be road cars, which was very good news for buyers. The 204bhp second generation ST185 was quick, surefooted and, being a Toyota, utterly reliable. UK buyers got relatively high-spec cars equipped with sunroofs and air conditioning.
This well preserved ’92 ST185 is pleasingly factory standard and displays all the reasons why these distinctive cars remain so popular. Within the swoopy wide body are great details like the pop up lights and bonnet scoops. The thick history file attests to its handful of owners, all clearly caring, with recent work to the structure noted in late 2020. A long MOT cements the impression of an honest car in good condition.
