The Appeal

The BMW R100 series was the last of the classic ‘airheads’ motorbikes from the German manufacturer, combining its classic elements of air-cooled ‘flat twin’ engine and monolever rear swingarm suspension. The RS variant incorporated full fairing fixed to the frame, making it widely considered to be the first volume-produced bike to do so. This is one of the last RS models to be made, incorporating improvements that enhanced reliability.

This example is highly original, with its black fairing and aluminium ‘snowflake’ pattern alloy wheels complemented by BMW panniers on both sides. It is fitted with a clear windscreen, with the original dark windscreen provided.

The ‘bike comes with a full service history and fresh MOT, and benefits from recently overhauled carburettors. It also comes with battery charger and three-month-old Wunderlich cover. The seller states that the ‘bike “starts, runs and stops as a modern bike should”. This R100RS represents a turnkey route into modern classic motorcycling.
