The Appeal
The JDM-only Prado arrived in 1990 as a more passenger-friendly and luxurious alternative to the more workhorse-oriented Land Cruisers. Built on the tough J70 heavy-duty platform and fitted with the legendary 2.4L turbodiesel engine, it was more comfortable but no less capable. Today the short-lived LJ78 is sought after, with many, like this one, being imported to sate UK demand.
This late model 1993 SX is a low-mileage, high specification seven-seater that has been properly looked after by its current long-term keeper. He is only the third UK owner, acquiring it in 2017. Since then, he has overhauled the brake system with new discs, pads and callipers, and replaced the suspension bushes. It has also been recently serviced and received a new timing belt. The full exhaust system has been replaced.
Looking smart in two-tone silver and blue with an equally tidy two-tone grey and blue velour interior, this is a very usable classic 4x4 where the new keeper can build on the work of the current one.
