APPEAL
The Vauxhall Astra has been the company’s staple car for so long its hard to recall the days before they arrived. They came in wide range of models and they seemingly had something for nearly everyone which is why it proved such a hit, especially in the hugely competitive hot hatch market.
This model with the ‘red top’ engine is probably the most sought after. With its 2.0 litre 16v engine delivering 148bhp through its 5-speed gearbox, it’ll achieve 0-62mph in 8 seconds and has a top speed of 137mph.
It’s a rare sight these days too. A quick look at howmanyleft.com reveals there are just 82 on UK roads today (with 554 SORN).
