The Appeal
This is a rare opportunity to purchase a mechanically unmodified and highly original VFR400 R in outstanding condition. Recently professionally repainted in what many enthusiasts believe to be the pinnacle Honda colourway, and with a recent full service and carb clean/balance, it would make a fantastic entry point to classic “beginner” superbike ownership or addition to a collection.
The History and Paperwork
- It was first UK registered in 2002 on 14,500
- Believed to a US import
- Has only covered around 3,000 miles since import
- Low UK mileage is backed up by MOT history
- Previous owner had it for 14 years and completed around 200 miles per year
- Log book states four former keepers
- Two keys - they both fit all locks
- MOT until April 2025
The Condition
- Vendor rates the exterior condition of the bike as 8.5/10
- Exterior of the bike is in outstanding condition with no major damage to any body panels
- Paintwork is near perfect having been resprayed by Race Paint in Nottingham - renowned motorcycle paint specialists in January 2024
- All body panels are Honda body panels
- Seats are in perfect order
- Wheels are in very good condition but would require a respray to match the perfect paintwork
- Minor damage on the clock face of the speedometer where the handle bars have rubbed slightly previously
- Handle bars themselves are in excellent condition
- Still has the original rear reflector on the bottom of the numberplate which most examples don’t have
The Mechanics
- Mechanically near enough perfect with no known mechanically
- Engine fires up first time and runs sweetly
- Bike handles very well - still one of the finest handling bikes that Honda has ever made
- Tyres are in good condition with plenty of tread remaining
- Original Honda exhaust remains in place which is very rare - they have typically been replaced on other examples
