The Appeal
Like a fine wine, the XJS just got better and better with time. While the early cars appeal to collectors and purists, the later ones are perfect if your priorities are more around using and enjoying. Improved quality, fuelled by investment by Ford, galvanised bodies and the smooth and reliable 4L AJ6 straight six engine top the list of significant changes.
These are all good reasons to seriously consider this Westminster Blue 1994 car. It is a really tidy example that has been with the current keeper since 2009. He reports spending £19,000 during that time on servicing and maintenance, work that notably includes a KWE suspension rebuild and service in 2017. That KWE provenance will appeal to enthusiasts as their work makes these big grand tourers considerably more agile and engaging. In the same year the bodywork received attention, which is documented in a photographic record.
We’re told that the car is dry stored between uses and only used in dry weather. The paintwork, bodywork and interior check out well in the usual XJS inspection areas and it carries MOT to May 2027, with advisories to note.
The vendor says:
“Full history since 2006, including invoices and electronic spreadsheet detailing all works, mileage, location and cost. GBP 19,000 spent since 2008 and maintained regardless of cost.
“Drives superbly especially since suspension rebuild 2017. Extremely solid. Maintained without regard to cost.”
