The Appeal
The 1994 Mercedes Benz E280 sits near the pinnacle of the much-loved W124 range; a model praised for its solid engineering, comfort, and timeless design. Powered by the smooth and dependable M104 2.8-litre straight-six engine producing around 190hp, it offered refined performance and the kind of build quality that made Mercedes a benchmark of its era.
This particular example, first registered in September 1994, is finished in elegant Spruce Green with a Beige (Mushroom) leather interior and has been in its existing ownership since 1997. It remains largely original but is reported to have received a comprehensive cosmetic refresh in 2021, including a full repaint, new exterior trims and rubbers, refurbished alloy wheels, and replacement door glass.
Although recorded as Cat C by the DVLA following vandalism in the early 2000s, the owner confirms there was no body or engine damage, and the car has since been carefully maintained. It now presents neatly, with some usage- and age-related wear inside, as well as featuring its original walnut trim and factory switchgear.
Showing around 123,500 miles on the clock and benefiting from an advisory-free MOT until May 2026, this E280 is said to “start and run beautifully”. With its elegant colour scheme, long-term ownership, and smooth six-cylinder power, it represents a fine example of one of Mercedes’ most respected classics.
