Jaguar “X300s” are rapidly increasing in value and collector interest at the moment, as the last of the straight-six XJs and – in the eyes of many – the last truly pretty Jaguar saloon car.
Despite being Jaguar’s fastest-selling car, they’re also becoming increasingly rare as they were only on sale for three years.
This one is a really early example – a January 1995 car so registered only three months after production of the model began. It has a lot going for it, having been owned by one owner (though registered twice to his and his ex-wife) until 2018.
He was a British National splitting his time between the UK and South Africa and the car was kept at his Knightsbridge home to be used only when he was back in the UK, hence why it has covered a very low mileage.
It was originally supplied by RA Cramer of Kensington, which supplied all Jaguar and Rover cars to the Royal households. Although the dealer has now gone, the name lives on today, with none other than Jaguar founder Sir William Lyon's grandson at the helm.
THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK
Supplied new by RA Cramer of Kensington – the supplier to the Royal Family
Two prior owners, the first until 2018
Used sparingly as owner spent only a few months a year in the UK
UK V5C
New MOT on sale
Service stamps all the way to 56,019 miles

THE INTERIOR
Magnolia leather and trim
Luxury over-mats
Rich maple veneers
Harman/Kardon stereo and CD changer
Air conditioning
Excellent presentation
New headlining
Recently overhauled air conditioner
Although a 3.2 XJ6 – essentially the entry-level car – this one had lots of extras fitted when new. Indeed, it was quite common for Jaguar buyers to select a base model and build it up to their own specification when the car was new rather than choose one of Jaguar’s pre-ordained trim levels.
As such it has leather, air conditioning, a Harman/Kardon stereo and CD changer and luxury Sovereign-spec over mats, among other features. It’s in fabulous order, too, as you’d expect from a car with such low miles.
There’s no bolster wear, the wood and trim are excellent and the leather in lovely condition.
THE EXTERIOR
Westminster Blue
Sport-sped ‘Dimple’ alloys with brushed aluminium finish
All original paint
Immaculate condition
No dents or damage
Good chrome and trim
The options list got a look-in where the exterior was concerned, too, with the buyer specifying seldom-seen but very smart Westminster Blue coachwork and ‘Dimple’ wheels, usually seen on the XJ Sport.
These are the premium brushed-alloy finish ones as well and are presented in very good order.
The paint, chrome and trim are all excellent and original, despite the car being 27 years old.
THE MECHANICS
3.2-litre straight six
Four-speed auto
Recent service and very well-maintained for 25 years
Drives brilliantly
Under the bonnet is the entry-spec version of Jaguar’s bomb-proof AJ16 engine, though it’s still no slouch developing 210bhp.
According to the vendor it’s a pleasure to drive and runs beautifully, with superb handling and ride comfort and no apparent faults.
SUMMARY
If you want an early example of the X300 in the best condition, with a good history and an extremely pleasant specification, then here it is.
This car has good pedigree, is in fantastic overall condition and is well worth adding to a collection or simply enjoying as it is.
There aren’t many left that are this good and this original.

About Max Bids
The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.
Anti-sniping
Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.
Auto-bidding increments
If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Automatically outbid immediately
When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.
Matching max bids
When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.
Pre-authorisation
We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.
What are pre-bids?
A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.
Problem with your bid
Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
