The Appeal

The Cosworth steals the limelight, but there was also a six-cylinder version of the celebrated W201 "Baby Benz". It was engineered to cram the refined, effortless torque of the larger E-Class into the smaller 190 body to compete with the BMW 325i. The 190E 2.6 delivers a highly respectable 160 hp - a paragon of smoothness and refinement, making it an excellent highway cruiser.

Surviving examples are rare, especially in as good original order as our 1987 car. This tidy UK-supplied 190E 2.6 is resplendent in the period hue of Arctic White over a black cloth interior. It comes with advisory-free MOT and the benefit of a recent major service. As the photographs attest, this Mercedes is in very good order for its age, with some scope to take it to the next level.
