The Appeal
The W124 is still widely regarded as one of the most elegant and well-engineered luxury coupes of the 1990s. It's certainly a handsome car, with gently modernised bodywork that still felt luxurious and stately. With its pillarless design, timeless styling, and renowned build quality, these models represent the pinnacle of Mercedes' engineering excellence during this era.
This particular 320CE is especially appealing as it has remained within the same family since new, having been purchased by the current owner's father 1995. The vehicle has been maintained with annual servicing by a current Mercedes-Benz engineer, and the vendor reports that it really shows. This is a truly fine example of an increasingly desirable car.

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.

Was this a special order?I understood that all coupes came with leather.
Classic••••
SellerNot that I am aware of. My Father In Law lives up not and did not like the cold of leather during the winter !!

Please could you state the condition of the wiring loom. Many thanks.
Classic••••
SellerIn relation to the wiring loom, this has not been replaced or investigated. In relation to the 2023 MOT, we spoke to the Mercedes Specialist garage at the time and requested that they did whatever was necessary to pass the MOT. The car passed the MOT later the same day. It passed its MOT without requiring work in 2024 and 2025. A 2026 MOT will be done shortly. In relation to rust, this was only an advisory. The document clearly confirms “stability” and “security”. The rust underneath the car has been treated by our engineer (see photos). In relation to the two rear tyres referred to in the 2023 MOT, this was only an advisory. Both rear tyres are in the process of being replaced. Although the service book has stamps up to 2022, it has been serviced in 2023, 2024 and 2025 by our engineer. The service book is full so 2023-2025 services have not been recorded. No major work has been done.

Hello, nice photos thanks. Is the original service book present and if so how many stamps? Is there any delamination on the rear window and does the rear demister work as it should? Could you photo the two seat belt butler housings and confirm the presenters are functioning? Are you able to confirm any major work completed such as head gasket and wiring loom? Apologies for a list and thanks for your reply in due course…

SellerI am not aware of any oil leeks.

Would you put a new MoT on the car prior to sale...the current one expires very soon. Recent MoT's have lots of advisories for corrosion...have these been dealt with...inner front wing rusting is a well known issue on the W124/C124. Seriously interested! TIA Steve in Bristol.

Thanks for your reply and photos. I will now closely follow the auction.

What is the item below the centre air vents, and the item attached to the right hand driver's air vent?
Classic••••
SellerThe item below the centre air vents is a Parrot blue tooth car device. This is attached via sticky Velcro and I think that it could be removed reasonably easily if you didn’t want it. The cup holder in the vent to the right of the steering wheel can be easily removed.
