1995 Mercedes-Benz W124 E200

  • Smart and very presentable W124
  • Unusual to find with such low mileage
  • Ideal as a distinctive daily or weekend classic
  • Nice specification includes cream interior and steel sliding sunroof
  • MOT to 30th September 2023, however the car will be supplied with a fresh MOT. This is a condition of sale.

The Appeal

The W124 was a Mercedes-Benz masterclass. Crisply designed by Bruno Sacco and engineered to perfection, it cleverly played to the sober-suited, high quality aesthetic beloved of the firm’s traditional buyers whilst neatly bringing the firm right up to date.

There were a huge array of engines and trim options. A mid-period revamp involving ‘Sacco plank’ side cladding that cleverly updated the handsome design.

The very reliable W124 is known for eating miles so it is unusual to discover a car like this with less than 60,000 miles covered in 28 years. Smartly presented in dark blue metallic over cream it has clearly been cared for. Perfect as a distinctive daily driver or the basis for a shiny weekend classic, this is the practical classic you can buy with your head and your heart.

The History and Paperwork

  • First registered 1st August 1995
  • MOT to 30th September 1995 with minor advisories for coil springs and slight exhaust leak
  • MOT records show that this car has covered less than 10,000 miles since 2007
  • At the time of writing we unfortunately did not have access to the car’s service and maintenance history
  • Nicely optioned with Gullideckel alloys and sliding steel sunroof

The Interior

  • Interior in very good, highly presentable condition for age of car
  • Hard-wearing cream cloth interior in good condition with no visible signs of wear
  • Some light stains visible on the front seats and centre armrest that could respond well to a professional valet
  • Dark wood veneers in very good condition
  • Factory radio/cassette with damaged LCD readout
  • Mercedes-Benz over mats
  • Twin front airbags
  • Dual zone temperature control
  • Switches and switchgear in very good condition with no visible wear to white decals
  • Optional steel sliding sunroof
  • Cream headlining is sagging in places, particularly towards the back of the car
  • Rear headrests can be raised or lowered from the dashboard
  • Electric windows and mirrors
  • Original plastic-rimmed four spoke steering wheel
  • Boot area in good condition, just some light scuffs visible on the upper trim

The Exterior

  • Very presentable, smart car that sits well on its factory alloys
  • Clever ‘Sacco planks’ to the lower parts of the doors neatly update the original car’s style
  • Dark blue paintwork in good condition, just some minor marks to be aware of
  • Some chips visible on the edges of the doors
  • Offside rear arch scratched with light surface corrosion visible where the paint has been removed
  • Classic ‘Gullideckel’ factory option alloy wheels lightly kerbed but in generally very good, smart condition
  • Quality Firestone tyres fitted
  • Light scratches visible on some panels that don’t appear to be through the paint and may respond to polish
  • Large area of paint flake under the bonnet that may be worth attending to help preserve this beautiful car in its current condition

The Mechanics

  • 2litre fuel injected M111 4cyl engine developing 130bhp
  • 4spd 4G-TRONIC Mercedes automatic gearbox
  • Strong, highly durable engine capable of significant mileages
  • MOT records support the displayed mileage

Handsome and durable and available in a huge range of specifications the W124 was popular with taxi drivers and captains of industry across the world.

This very low mileage E200 was nicely specified and optioned by its first owner and shows just why these cars have endured. Perfect for use as a daily driver or, with a little bit of fettling, as a classic show stopper, it is a rare opportunity to buy a solid W124 with very low mileage.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you\'re able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
