The Appeal
The XJS is one of those typically British cars that was seemingly developed properly once it entered production. Over its long 21-year production run, it just got better and better, with the final ‘Celebration’ cars, built to mark 60 years of Jaguar, being the best-built and highest-specified.
These final cars received a more luxurious interior and are distinguished by their smart ‘Aerosport’ alloys. This low mileage British Racing Green Celebration is one of the very last built and was registered in June 1996, just as the final XJS rolled off the Browns Lane lines.
The vendor acquired the car in 2023 to join his collection. He tells us that the large history file shows a run of regular servicing in the stamped book from 1997 to 2019 and then is recorded in invoices. The last service was in April 2026 and cost £700. Over £9,000 is said to have been spent on the car in the last five years.
You can inspect the fruits of that care and attention in the photos. The car presents very well in the usual XJS check areas, helped by this car being one of the later galvanised examples. The current MOT runs to April 2027 and underlines the sense of a well kept car in having no advisories.
The vendor says:
“The car is a beautiful drive. It glides over the terrible condition of the UK roads and really does waft along in luxury.”
