The Appeal
Some modified Defenders wear their capability like a badge of honour. Not so this very smart 1996 90. Great aesthetics standard-looking whilst incorporating a huge list of upgrades. This is one potent 4x4.
Top of that long list is a 2.8L International TGV TDI engine, auto gearbox conversion, heavy-duty Ashcroft halfshafts, Detroit LSD, Terrafirma lift kit and uprated suspension. Perhaps the main giveaway that all is not quite what it seems is the custom ‘Twisted’ side exit exhaust.
The exterior features some custom parts that the eagle-eyed will enjoy spotting, while inside, there are high-backed sports heated leather front seats and a Momo wheel.
It is believed to have covered less than 11,000 miles since all the work was completed so presents in very good order. A thick history file documents the work and subsequent maintenance.
This uprated one-off Defender could be used as a decent street car or is obviously set up for offroad use. Or use it for both. It will be sold with a fresh 12 months MOT
The vendor says:
“Fantastic! Being an auto, it makes driving a Defender easy but still fun. The noise is the best bit, turbo flutter is something you'll never get bored of and makes a great experience. A one-off build.”
