The Appeal
Built in a period when Mercedes were producing some of the most luxurious cars on the roads this E320 has been able to inherit some of the expensive features. These include the full leather interior, smooth automatic gearbox, and powerful 3.2l engine.
The current owner has cared for this car properly and having recently spent thousands on rectifying some common failures it is now as good as the day it rolled off the production line.
The History and Paperwork
- First registered for the road in January 1996 this E320 has gone on to live a happy life
- Although there isn’t much historic paperwork there are a lot of modern invoices
- There are also a lot of original Mercedes leaflets and handbooks
- Photographed together you can see that it must have been cared for well
- The service book is included which documents a few previous services
- The newest stamp is from 2012 when the car had just a smidge over 100,000 miles on the clock
- It must be noted that it has had a more recent service as part of its mechanical work
- The current owner acquired the car in 2021 and has spent a lot of money on it
- Its wiring loom has been replaced in November 2021 and still works as it should
- In October 2021 it has its head removed and skimmed
- At this point, the engine oil is replaced
- The automatic gearbox also receives a new filter and some new oil
- A new electric aerial was also fitted in 2021

The Interior
- Inside this E320 is in amazing condition when you consider its age/mileage
- With 150,000 miles on the clock, you’d expect some wear to the driver's seats
- But you can see that there are no major areas of damage to this seat
- The base and side bolsters all look as if they have only seen light use over their time
- This condition is also mirrored by the front and rear passenger seats
- The carpets, finished in a corresponding colour, have been protected with a set of over mats
- Looking up you can see that the headliner is also presented with little to no marking at all
- Upfront the leather-wrapped dashboard runs across the length of the car
- This too is very nice and presents with little wear
- Set into the dashboard is the instrument binnacle
- Easily readable with all of the necessary information on display it is far better than a modern digital display
- Sticking with the theme of being better than a modern Mercedes we are drawn to the centre console
- This is where you’ll find all of the climate control buttons and the radio too
- With physical buttons, it means you’ll never have to take your eyes off the road when driving
- There is a missing button cap on the radio, but this shouldn’t be too much of an issue
- If we’re getting very picky too there is some slight cracking to the wood veneer surrounding the gear selector
- The section that cannot go unnoticed on the interior is the boot section, it is massive
- All of the carpets back here appear to be in very good condition
- It also still has its original load cover and dog guard fitted
- You will also find the spare wheel in the boot section too
- Overall, the interior of this E320 is in very good condition
- There are only a few small areas that you may wish to touch up
- But, if you didn’t look at the odometer you wouldn’t believe how many miles this car has covered
The Exterior
- Externally this Mercedes is just as good as the interior
- The two-tone paintwork is certainly eye-catching
- It is also in very good condition
- It was pointed out during the photoshoot that the body panels are void of surface corrosion
- There is one small area of surface corrosion just behind the offside front wheel
- However, this could be rectified with a little bit of primer and silver paint
- The car sits on a nice set of silver alloys
- Shrouded with a matching set of tyres the alloys are in good condition
- Should the boot not be large enough for you there are roof bars running the length of the roof
- Overall, the exterior of this E320 is in very good condition and ready to sit pretty in your driveway
The Mechanics
- Under the bonnet, you’ll find a nice, powerful 3.2l engine
- Mated to a smooth automatic gearbox it is a pleasure to drive
- The current owner has put a few miles on this car in their tenure and loves to get behind the wheel
- It is said to drive very well out on the road
- As we documented in the ‘History and Paperwork’ section this car has recently had a lot spent on its mechanically
- Due to this work, you should be able to hop in and get straight to enjoying everything it has to offer
- On the day of the photos, it was required to manoeuvre around the current owner’s drive
- It selected drive and reverse every time without complaints
- It also started the first time on the key without any extended cranking
- Wherever you wish to go this E320 will take you there in great comfort
- Overall, the mechanicals appear to be in very good condition
Summary
What we have here is a very good deal for you, this E320 is as stylish as it is practical. There is no need for a large SUV when you have one of these estates handy.
