The Appeal
In the mid-90s, Porsche was chasing track glory. To secure success in BPR Global GT and FIA GT championships, the firm took a 993 Turbo, aggressively lightened it and created the GT2. To achieve homologation, between 194 and 200 911GT road cars were built, all featuring the unmistakable body kit and stylings that make these track-focused cars one of the greatest of all air-cooled 911 models.
If you can find a genuine 911GT, it’ll set you back between £1m and £1.5m. Here’s the next best thing, with a substantial saving over the original. It is a highly detailed Evocation that began life as a USA-market 993 Carrera 2, built in 1996, according to the chassis data. The makeover is very close to the GT2 look, finished in white and reportedly using genuine GT2 body parts, though this is not confirmed. The vendor says that the suspension does use GT2 parts and it is also fitted with gold lattice-style Brombacher Works alloys. Inside there is a pair of genuine Recaros, a Momo wheel and updated dials.
The car has spent most of its life, between 1998 and 2026, with a single Japanese keeper. It was imported to the UK earlier this year and is said to carry a current MOT valid to July 2027. This is a nicely executed Evocation that comes with good provenance and would be hard to replicate. Having been permanently imported with all duties and taxes paid, we are told that the car requires only UK registration to complete the process.

“It’s an awesome machine. Immense looks and drives well, and sounds great. It is the Varioram engine of the Carrera, which ensures great performance. The exhaust sounds immense, and along with the suspension upgrades, it’s a really amazing car to be in and drive.”

“The vehicle was purchased from Japan in its current state. It is originally a US model 993 Carrera 2 manual. It was imported into Japan in 1998 and kept by one owner in Japan from 1998 to now. It has a full GT2 evocation conversion with genuine GT2 suspension parts used and Genuine Recaro seats. We believe the body parts may also be genuine; however, we cannot verify this for sure. It also has an exhaust system and suspension upgrades. The wheels are genuine Brombacher Work wheels. Mono genuine steering wheel. The clocks have also been upgraded. The seats are genuine Recaro.”

Like the original 911GT, there is absolutely no mistaking this Evocation. Smartly presented in white with nicely detailed badging, body kit and Brombacher Works gold lattice split rim alloys, it is one of the most purposeful and eye catching 993s that we’ve seen in a long while.
The trick that this car cleverly executes is to channel the aesthetics of the 911GT but retain much of the comfort of the original Carrera 2 on which it is based. The front seats have been replaced with figure-hugging Recaros, and the dials are updated too, but it retains a factory CD player and electric windows.
Inside and out the car is in good order with a few light signs of use typical of a well-kept car of this age.

This car looks very much like a GT2, and with its upgraded exhaust system and suspension it sounds and handles much like one, but it is as reliable and easy to own as a standard Carrera 2. Beneath the massive rear spoiler is the firm’s well-regarded 3.6L air cooled flat six, mated to a manual gearbox. We’re told the car runs and drives well and it carries the reassurance of a lengthy current UK MOT.
