The Appeal
With the 200-series being widely tipped as a future classic, there surely isn’t a better time to get into the car that is arguably bigger, boxier and indeed better - the 900. Beloved of antique collectors and a bastion of 90s Middle England, these majestic load luggers have few rivals and a growing following.
Because these cars are tough, durable workhorses, finding good, unmolested and properly loved examples is surprisingly difficult. This 1996 estate is all those things. Finished in antique-appropriate gold metallic with a well-kept charcoal fabric cabin, it is a three-keeper car that has been in the hands of its current owner since 2003.
It is equipped with the light-pressure 170bhp 2.3L B230FT engine and a five-speed manual gearbox. It won’t win any drag races, but that isn’t what this car is about - instead, we can think of a few more appealing ways to bash out long-distance trips, perhaps across Europe this summer, than behind the wheel of this reliable wagon.
The history file shows regular attention to servicing and maintenance, and the current MOT runs to November 2026. As such, it looks good to go.
