The Appeal

Often overlooked, the E55 W210 is an AMG powerhouse that deserves praise on par with the likes of an E39 M5 - after all, it was pretty much a direct competitor. That’s a bold statement, we know, but it really isn’t far from the truth, these subtle yet aggressive W210’s are packed with supercar-rivalling performance that would put to shame even modern performance cars. Not to mention, they’re renowned for their mechanical superiority when it comes to longevity and reliability - they’re proper workhorses.

The current kept of this vehicle has taken great mechanical care, ensuring oil changes and services are strictly adhered to, and the owner notes that there are almost no signs of rust or corrosion thanks to its time in a dry climate.

Original Mercedes Benz radio and tape deck, with a CD changer in the boot
Rear electric roller blind remains functional
Headliner replaced and appears to be in excellent condition
Carpets are all original and well presented, no signs of damage
Original first aid kit present in the rear armrest extension
Age related issue with the electric dimming rear view mirror, it no longer dims due to the wires losing their insulation
Full size spare wheel present and in excellent, seemingly unused condition

The Exterior

Brilliant Silver Metallic paintwork presents itself in well maintained condition with only gentle age related marks like stone chips and scratches
Brightwork appears to be in good condition
Headlights are free of any damage, however could use a gentle polish to remove some of the hazing which has appeared from age
No visible rust or corrosion on the arches or common areas
Original AMG wheels with gentle signs of age, the polished lips could do with a little TLC however present no signs kerb rash
All wheels shod in Pirelli P Zero tyres which were recently fitted in 2022
Slight knock previously inflicted to one of the front wings - now repaired by a professional body shop
Rear model designations present
Rear light clusters appear in lovely condition with no damage or water ingress to be seen
Original AMG exhaust tips are in well maintained condition with light signs of pitting

The Mechanics

M113 5.5-litre V8 engine, a total powerhouse ready for whatever you throw at it, acceleration is reported to be strong and smooth with power delivery

5-speed automatic transmission remains smooth and jolt-free with no unwelcome noises during use

Brake discs changed at approximately 115,000km and still appear to be in good shape, brakes are reported to be strong and linear as you would expect
Shock absorbers have been inspected with no signs of any leaks
Ball joints replaced some time in 2023
Steering tie-rod reported to be replaced in 2022
A very well mechanically sorted E55, these are renowned workhorses due to their uncomplicated naturally aspirated V8 engines

Summary

The W210 is undoubtedly one of the underdogs of the AMG world, but all that’s done is made these luxurious rocketships rare and they don’t break the bank. This is probably your best shot at a clean, well taken care of and original example with excellent mechanical health - at this mileage these M113 engines are just getting started and are aching for more.

This would be a stunning addition to any Mercedes enthusiasts collection, or make an exciting and reliable runaround for someone with a V8 itch to scratch!
