The 1993 Vauxhall Corsa was one of the best-looking cars ever made - just ask Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell or Linda Evangelista.
At least that’s what Vauxhall would have wanted you to believe, having pulled out all the stops to create one of the highest budget car ads of all-time when its new supermini made its debut.
It was a clever campaign, with the four supermodels each appearing in separate ads and looking on in disgust as the cheeky Corsa got more admiring glances than they did from bystanders.
Today, 30 years since it made its catwalk debut, the Corsa is an up and coming modern classic, sought-after by nostalgic 30 and 40-somethings who remember them from their first driving experiences, while the car also has a cult following among younger enthusiasts who love the idea of an analogue car in an increasingly digital world.
This one, which has just celebrated its 25th birthday, was bought new by its one-and-only registered keeper on August 1st, 1997 – one of the very first cars on the new R-registration. There’s a huge amount of nostalgia out there for 1990s cars at the moment and the Vauxhall Corsa is one of the cars driving that – once one of the top three best-selling cars in the UK, it had a strong following when new and is well-loved and remembered by many, as well as being one of the most fun and entertaining modern classics for young drivers.
