The Appeal
There was no obvious reason for the original Puma to exist, because it didn’t really fit any existing market niche, but lets be glad Ford’s bean counters let it happen because they enabled one of the best FWD coupes of the last 30 years.
The sculptural Puma was based on Ford’s B Platform, shared with the Ka, Fiesta and Courier van. Like the Ka, but unlike the Fiesta, the Puma was utterly brilliant to drive. Yet sales were never that high, so survivors are rare. Especially ones as good as this 1999 1.7 16V. It is fitted with the same VCT engine used in the Racing Puma - without the Tickford tuning - and is a highly preserved 26,500 mile car with unmodified, original features.
The car was bought by the current keeper in 2000 and has clearly been cherished and used sparingly. The MOT records support the low mileage. Recent maintenance includes a cambelt and water pump change in 2024. The MOT runs to October 2026 with no advisories.
Here is a chance to become the car’s first new keeper in 26 years and bag a good example of a seriously entertaining future classic.
The vendor says:
"I highly doubt that there is another one In this condition anywhere (well at least for sale), I’ve looked over the last 5 years and there is nothing in comparison
"I’m basically selling it on my Dads behalf, he’s looked after it like you wouldn’t believe, the oil changes spark plugs and timing belts have been changed way before they are due, never ever kept outside, always in the garage which itself is immaculate and dust free, tyres are pretty much brand new also."

The vendor says:
Exceptional condition throughout, an absolute stunning example of Puma, paintwork was recently treated and waxed in 2025, the only thing negative is one wing mirror is a slightly different shade of red, this was like this from purchase so it must have been the former owner, from what the photographer said the underneath is in fantastic condition also, I have yet to see the photos. Almost as good as new inside, no marks whatsoever, the drivers seat has always been protected by a cushion.
"The mechanicals are in one word ‘incredible’ - the engine has never been cleaned as such, but it looks like it’s few months old, runs very smoothly with no unwanted noises."
