The Appeal
While Colin Chapman’s ‘add lightness’ mantra has always driven Lotus’ cars, over at Jaguar William Lyons’ a more prosaic approach ruled the roost.
When it came to developing the X100 XK8, 30 years after Lyons’ left the firm, the simple principles of ‘grace, pace and space’ drove the creation of one of the firm’s most important models of the last few decades. Sleek, beautiful, roomy and quick, it could only ever be a Jaguar. Bolting a supercharger to the new AJ8 motor merely dialled up those attributes.
This ’99 XKR is smartly finished in Meteorite Silver over Warm Charcoal, a compelling blend that is enhanced by some distinctive 20in BBS alloys. With good history and long MOT, this is a well preserved example of a scintillating sports car.

- Attractive factory colour combination with tasteful enhancements

- These are few in number limited to front bumper and single scuff on rear wing
- No visible corrosion but paint flake to note on rear arches and rear of nearside sill
- Smart 20in bolted BBS alloys with polished rim in good order with no visible damage
- Shod with quality Dunlop tyres showing good condition and tread
- Gold front and rear badges and aerial
- Underside in good order with no MOT structural issues or other points to note
- Well kept interior with Burr Walnut and Warm Charcoal black leather seats and carpets
- Trim and switchgear is well kept and original including Jaguar sound system & CD changer
- Veneers well kept with no visible deterioration to dashboard, door trims or centre console
- Billeted aluminium aftermarket trim set added to gaiter surround and dials
- Later X100s adopted a similar style with chromed instrument bezels
