The Appeal
The P38 Range Rover brought a new level of refinement to the luxury off-road segment, and the 4.6-litre V8 HSE sits at the top of the petrol range, offering effortless performance and a characterful exhaust note. A P38 in this condition, with low miles and one that has clearly lived a gentle life, is becoming more difficult to find, making such examples highly sought after.
This 1999 example was imported from Japan, a country that doesn't salt many of its roads, and is now registered on UK plates. Finished in white with black bumpers, it presents with a classic appearance. Inside, the vendor describes the leather seats as being in very good condition with no cuts or tears, while the dash, steering wheel and door cards are all reported in good order. The only cosmetic note is a slight sag in the headlining towards the rear. Mechanically, the 4.6-litre V8 is said to start and run smoothly. The air suspension has been converted to conventional springs which perform well, and ensure no future air suspension faults, though the vendor notes this can be reversed. A recent service has reportedly been carried out, and the vehicle holds an MOT valid until March 2027.
