The Appeal
The Z3 convertible was BMW’s answer to the Mazda MX5 but the Z3 Coupe was something else entirely. It channeled the practical energy of classic sporting estates like the P1800ES and Scimitar GTE into a car that was altogether more engaging and sporting.
The one to have of course is this one: the Z3M with the superlative straight six 3.2litre 235bhp engine from the M3. Chuckable, entertaining handling is the name of the Z3M’s game alongside visceral straight line speed.
Despite those qualities, just 6,291 Z3M coupes were built. This low mileage car has recently arrived in Poland from the USA so has the S52 M3 engine. It is highly original and in very good condition with a particularly well kept interior. Recent work to the suspension and driveshaft means it is as fun as it is practical and usable. This Z3M is surely a certain future classic.
