The Appeal
The C215-generation CL was Mercedes-Benz's flagship coupé at the turn of the millennium: a pillarless grand tourer bristling with technology that was cutting-edge for its day, from Active Body Control (ABC) suspension to radar-assisted cruise control and keyless go. With its 306bhp 5.0-litre V8 and effortless five-speed automatic transmission, the CL500 offered a blend of performance and refinement that few rivals could match, and the model has steadily gained recognition among enthusiasts as a result.
This particular example, finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic over Anthracite Nappa leather, benefits from a notably generous specification that includes AMG body styling, 19-inch alloy wheels, heated and cooled comfort seats with multi-contour massage, Distronic cruise control, Linguatronic voice activation, a rear window blind, a Nokia car phone and the COMAND infotainment system.
More significantly, it has been the subject of an extensive refurbishment carried out in January 2025 by its current owner, who purchased the car with the intention of bringing it as close to new condition as possible. The work list is extensive, spanning virtually every major mechanical system, from the ABC suspension and braking system to the radiator, gearbox and differential, alongside a cosmetic refresh including panel repaints and an alloy wheel refurbishment. Since the refurbishment, the car has been used for trips to Goodwood and Le Mans. Being sold due to other projects, this is a well-sorted and generously equipped CL500 that appears ready to be enjoyed.
