The Appeal
The second generation MR2 has to be one of the most iconic 90’s cars, immensely popular thanks to the bold design, lively handling and free revving, exciting engines. Their fantastic driving experience has also been their downfall, with good examples becoming increasingly hard to find. This MR2 however, hasn’t had the usual long list of owners, high miles and over enthusiastic right feet that many have suffered from; only two owners from new, the first a Toyota dealership who used it as a demonstrator and the second a careful lady owner who faithfully had it serviced and stamped every year.
To say it’s in good condition would be doing this fantastic car a great disservice, with the exception of a couple of very minor points as detailed below it is in as new condition and presents superbly throughout. It would make a fantastic addition to any collection, representing the emerging trend for 90’s cars with style and finesse, but we think the only thing you’ll want to do when you slide in down behind the wheel is drive.

- Dashboard, centre console, trim all present perfectly
- The boot in the rear appears as new
The Exterior

- All four silver 5-spoke alloy wheels in excellent condition

- All of the badges, light lenses, windows and trim present superbly
- A small area of light crazing is visible on the corner of the rear bumper as shown in the images
The Mechanics
- Superb 1,998cc Toyota NA 2.0L 3S-GE engine
- Starts easily on a turn of the key and idles smoothly
- MOT to June 2023
- Engine and engine bay present superbly
- Underside and all visible running gear present in the same excellent condition
- MOT notes an oil leak as an advisory, but we could see no evidence underneath the car of any leaks
- The vendor informs us that the car drives like new, accelerating well, shifting smoothly and stopping quickly
Summary
The MR2 has a reputation as a drivers car and with good reason; the 2l engine is free revving and packs a punch, the car is light and with the mid engine layout handling is snappy and exciting. So finding one that hasn’t been over enjoyed can be tricky, but to find one in this condition, with this few owners, exceptional service history, and with less than 30,000 on the clock is simply exceptional, which is also the word we’d use to describe the condition of this MR2. It’s in stunning condition throughout and is ready to drive and enjoy.
