The Appeal
In the 1990s, BMW was on a roll. The E39 quite simply knocked it out of the park. It proved that you could reach the dizzy heights of senior management and still find a dynamic, engaging saloon on the executive car list.
The E39's qualities mean that these cars still make excellent daily drivers even 30 years after the first cars hit showrooms. This facelift 195bhp M54-engined 525i would do that job perfectly. It has clearly got has much life left in it having covered less than 47,000 miles from new. The condition is best described as ‘timewarp’ - the smart Oxford Green paintwork and rare English Green velour interior, accented with walnut, look barely used.
Then there is the specification. That highly regarded engine needs little introduction, here it is mated to the firm’s relaxing 5spd auto box, making this comfortable car a proper cruiser.
The service records back up the sense of a well-cared-for car. Its four keepers have kept on top of regular servicing, most recently in May 2024. The MOT runs to March 2026. Unassuming and yet utterly capable, this handsome E39 looks like a proper find.
