The Appeal

We look back upon the early 2000s as a golden era of Formula One, and the Jordan EJ11 occupies a special place in that period of the sport. Powered by Honda and driven by the likes of Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Jarno Trulli and Jean Alesi during the 2001 season, the EJ11 was a seriously quick car, regularly qualifying in the top six, but one cruelly denied the results its pace deserved by a string of mechanical retirements. It remains one of the most evocative F1 cars of its era, wearing the striking yellow livery synonymous with Eddie Jordan's ambitious outfit.

This chassis, EJ11.12, is one of just two show-cars built alongside the four race cars that contested the 2001 World Championship. Constructed in March 2001 for Honda, Jordan's engine partner, it served as the official Honda UK show-car before passing through a small number of hands. Its provenance is supported by the original invoice from Honda, and its subsequent history is equally colourful: after time in a Honda dealership showroom, it spent around nine years on the show circuit, appearing at over ten events alongside former F1 driver Johnny Herbert.

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a piece of Jordan and Honda's shared F1 history, complete with documented provenance and a remarkable exhibition pedigree.

History and Paperwork

Constructed from carbon- and glass-fibre, the car is visually indistinguishable from the race cars that took to the grid in 2001 and retains a substantial inventory of original Jordan F1 parts. As the photographs attest, it is in very good condition having been very well-kept by its handful of owners. For collectors of Formula One memorabilia and motorsport artefacts, this car is surely the ultimate addition to any collection.
