The Appeal
We mustn't forget what a bold car the P38 was. This was the first time Land Rover dared to fundamentally re-jig the original Range Rover formula. It was always going to be a gamble, but it certainly paid off. That design has aged very well, and the welcome injection of modern tech means these cars can still make daily drivers in a way a Range Rover classic is a little more limited in its application.
With its generous glazing, commanding driving position and a wonderfully charismatic engine note, the P38A has earned a devoted following among those who appreciate understated British motoring, and values are beginning to reflect that appreciation.
This example has had just two former registered keepers and has been in its current ownership for five years, during which time we're informed that approximately £10,000 has been spent ensuring it remains a dependable and enjoyable car. The vendor reports service history, and the air suspension, often a concern on these models, was refurbished approximately six years ago with new Dunlop air springs, accompanied by supporting documentation. It comes with a fresh MOT valid until March 2027, carrying only one advisory for a minor oil leak that has reportedly remained stable for years.
The bodywork and paint are described by the vendor as being in honest condition, with a key mark on one side and small points of rust on the rear mudguards. The interior is said to present well, though the headlining has sagged, also affecting the sunroof cover. Notably, this V8 is ULEZ compliant, adding a layer of everyday practicality that is unusual for a car of this character and era.image.png1.69 MB
