The Appeal
The timeless nature of Bruno Sacco’s Sport Liecht masterpiece lends itself easily to some light titivation, and the current keeper of this 2001 SL280 has taken that opportunity to dial it up to the next level. A set of black Monobloc-style alloys, black grille and badges, plus a red-dyed interior certainly enhance the stance.
The late model SL280 is a good basis for improvement because these cars are so usable. They got the new M112 V6 engine, good for 201bhp, yet with decent real-world fuel efficiency. This Obsidian Black car also left the factory with a £2,000 upgraded leather package. The recent recolouring means that the burr walnut-lined cabin presents well.
The car is supplied with its matching hard top, while we’re told that the soft top benefits from new fluids. In recent times the car has also received new tyres, injectors, plugs and an oil and filter change. It comes with the added reassurance of a lengthy MOT valid to June 2027.
The changes may upset purists, but when you get to stand out like this, who cares?
The vendor says:
“Smooth as melted butter, nothing to complain about had it checked by a mechanic. You will get compliments from people, as there are hardly any SL280s, or even SL500s, in this black-and-red spec with the alloys!”
