THE APPEAL
Based on the Rover 25, the MG ZR featured stiffened and lowered suspension, a bodykit and multi-spoke alloy wheels, as well as sports seats and aluminium dashboard inlays.
The engine is a 1.4 litre ‘K-Series’ naturally aspirated inline-four, delivering 102bhp to the front wheels through a five speed gearbox. The 16 inch ‘Hairpin’ alloy wheels set this car off nicely and benefit from the much needed grip of wide Dunlop tyres.
This particular low-mileage example is in brilliantly original condition and its next owner will certainly be proud to be seen in it.

THE INTERIOR
- Half leather seats in great condition
- Original Kenwood stereo
The interior looks to be in great condition and the original half leather seats are in excellent order, with no obvious signs of wear or use. Their black leather bolsters, red stitching and chequered cloth seat centres complement the bold exterior hue very nicely.
The dashboard appears to be immaculate with no sign of damage or wear. Smart aluminium-effect dashboard inlays complement the sports steering wheel and original Kenwood stereo system.
To the rear, the parcel shelf and roof lining are also pristine, and the boot looks very clean, with the spare wheel and jack still present.

You can’t help but smile when you see a car in bright red paintwork and with a rear spoiler, can you?
The Solar Red paintwork is in excellent overall condition, with some small paint chips to the edge of the driver’s door, and a few stone chips to the front of the car.
The vendor reports no known bodywork issues, as minor signs of corrosion were attended to in May 2019 at a cost of £2300. And from what we could see, the underside remains straight and as clean as you could hope for.

The odometer displays just 29,296 miles, which is fully supported by the car’s maintenance history. The timing belt and two auxiliary belts were replaced in September 2015 at 24,220 miles.
Its punchy little 1.4-litre engine managed to kick out a whisker over 100bhp when new. Coupled with the factory lowered and stiffened suspension, this makes the ZR quick off the line and raucous fun in the corners.
THE SUMMARY
This MG ZR is a very low-mileage example of MG’s sporty hatchback, finished in the vibrant hue of Solar Red and presented in entirely original and unmodified condition throughout.
It has clearly been cared for and treated well, as it remains in fantastic condition throughout, and will make a fun addition to your collection, or a great candidate for a daily driver.
