The Appeal
The VW Polo GTi 6N2 is one of the most fondly remembered pocket rockets of the early 2000s. With its rev-happy 1.6-litre 16-valve engine, sharp chassis, and compact dimensions, it offered a driving experience that punched well above its weight. Finding one today that hasn't been modified beyond recognition or neglected into oblivion is becoming ever more difficult.
This 2001 example is among the rare survivors. Purchased by the current owner in November 2025 on account of its condition, it retains its original specification bar an Apple CarPlay head unit. Beneath the skin, it has been comprehensively refurbished, and the vendor states it starts instantly, revs cleanly, and handles as a GTi should, cruising comfortably at 70 mph at 3,000 rpm. With a solid service history and always run on super unleaded fuel during current ownership, this Polo GTi offers a rare chance to enjoy one of the best small hot hatches of its generation.image.png1.39 MB

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
