The Appeal
There is the Busso-engined Alfa 916 GTV, and then there’s the Cup. This limited-run model, built to celebrate the 2001 GTV Cup Championship series, is notable for its aggressive aero kit and its sheer rarity - just 155 of the 419 produced worldwide were available in RHD to UK customers.
This is number 123 and it remains entirely factory standard, including the exhaust. The Alfa red paintwork and black leather interior are in good order, the latter benefiting from the more attractive Phase 2 layout. The engine bay, with its glossy Busso chrome intakes is equally well kept and indicative of the care of its keepers over the years.
The history file tells a similar story, showing a run of regular service stamps by main dealers and well-regarded specialists like Alfanatics, Alfa Mania and Graham Eddy. Reassuringly the cambelt has been changed regularly, most recently at 71,500 miles. This was in 2019, so may be due again based on age. The last service was 2,000 miles ago in 2022.
With that crackling Busso soundtrack and slick 6spd manual box, this very tidy Cup will definitely be rewarding. The appropriate private plate is included.
The venor says:
“A new aftermarket alarm was fitted last year with two fobs. All three keys are present. Aftermarket radio/CD player with a new electric aerial also fitted last year. The car is completely unmolested and original, even the exhaust. Spare wheel, jack and tool wallet are all original. I have lots of history, MOTs receipts, etc., and service book stamps. I love the classic shape, especially the front end and that Busso engine is something to behold.”
