The Appeal
In late 1999 Porsche relented and gave buyers the Boxster they really wanted - the simply named S. A bigger engine and more power - up from 200bhp to 250bhp - provided the performance to exploit the 986’s brilliant chassis. This car, with a 6spd manual box, is arguably the early Boxster you definitely want.
And as if by magic, that is the car we have here. Smartly finished in Seal Grey metallic with the benefit of the factory Aerokit and BBS-style alloys to dial up the visual drama, this is a low-mileage car that has had just five previous keepers in its 23 years. The paintwork is mated to a black roof and dark blue leather cabin.
The vendor acquired the car in 2018 and has continued the theme of sparing use and regular maintenance. Notable improvements include new suspension bushes and wishbones plus the addition of a stainless exhaust. It also benefits from a Pioneeer Bluetooth stereo head unit.
Well specified, in a desirable colour scheme and with few miles, this is very tidy 986.
