The fourth-generation Vauxhall Astra offered a host of improvements over its predecessor, including sharper handling and improved refinement and ride quality. One of the rarer variants is the SRi Turbo, with only a few hundred produced. Its 2.0-litre 16-valve turbocharged engine produced 189 bhp (192 PS) and featured twin balancer shafts for smoothness. Reviews of the time found its performance to be impressive.
This three-door hatchback example from 2002 is finished in bright red, complemented by five-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels and the SRi body kit comprising lower front spoiler with fog lights, side skirts and rear spoiler. As the pictures show, there are blemishes to the exterior, notably on the upper surfaces (e.g. bonnet, roof, rear spoiler). The badges are not currently attached to the vehicle, but will be provided to the buyer.
Inside, black on white dials, silver centre console trim and sports front seats add a sporting touch to the interior, which features black leather upholstery. The seller describes the interior as being in 'fair/good condition', with wear marks commensurate with the car's age. The seller states that they bought the car new and have been its sole owner, and that the car has been SORN for the last five years, during which the car has been stored, covered, in a private yard. They say that the battery has been disconnected since c. 2024, when the car was last run.
This car is ready to be restored to its former glory and to provide a new owner with hot hatch fun.image.png4.56 MB

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle's status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
