The Audi A6 has been with us since 1994, with the second generation C6/4B launched in 1997 aimed as a competitor to the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-Class; the biggest engine at the time available in the A6 was the impressive 3.0 litre V6. It was in 2002 that the private Audi company Quattro GmbH launched the fantastic RS6. With a production run of just two years, the C5/4B model is fast becoming a sought-after modern classic.
This model has been well maintained, with 14 stamps in the service book, plus additional invoices for work carried out that included new turbos in 2017. With just over 110,000 miles covered, the RS6 still has plenty of miles left for when the new custodian takes over the reins and enjoys this powerful saloon. 9lgJW5n9WrskVqmXUHsCOlzJCZGEiJxlAWFOMhVt.jpg493.74 KB

4.2 litre V8 Twin-turbo and a slick automatic/Tiptronic gearbox are enough to propel the Audi RS6 from 0-60mph in a blistering 4.6 seconds. Externally Audi gave the RS6 a more masculine look with its wide arches over the standard A6. Internally, full black Recaro leather seats hold you tightly; the trim package is the carbon fibre option giving it a modern feel.
The Quattro drivetrain keeps the car planted through the twisty bits, and having had the silencers deleted, the tone of the V8 is more noticeable. Still, a welcomed noise to hear and is enough to bring a smile to any petrolhead searching for the more powerful family saloon.
